HOTELS We have blocked rooms at the Poughkeepsie Marriott Courtyard. Please see the information below. There will be a complimentary shuttle between the Marriott and Christos for the wedding/reception. AIR TRAVEL All wedding activities will be taking place in the New Paltz-Poughkeepsie area which is approximately 90 miles from NYC and 60 miles from Albany. There are six airports within travel distance and I have listed them (starting with the closest) below along with comments regarding their ease of use. Car rental is available at all aiports listed. 1. Stewart-Newburgh Airport. This is a small airport (houses Delta, JetBlue, AirTran, US Air and NWA only), but it is only 30 minutes from the wedding activities/hotel. 2. White Plains Airport. This airport has a decent amount of carriers and is about and hour from the wedding activities/hotel. Will be a lot of traffic on Fridays. 3. Albany Airport. This airport has a decent amount of carriers and is about and hour from the wedding activities/hotel. Not as crowded as White Plains or NYC airports. 4. LaGuardia Airport. Medium airport located about 2 hours from wedding activities. Decent amount of carriers, but very crowded and busy most of the time. Bus and cab are only public transportation options from this airport. Car rental is mainly offsite. This airport is wedged in between water and a crowded parkway. 5. Newark Airport. Large airport, all carriers fly in and out. Many direct flights. Crowded, but manageable. Excellent public transportation to and from this airport to Manhattan-at which point public transportation can be utilized to get to wedding activities/hotel. 6. JFK Airport. Large airport, all carriers fly in and out. Many direct flights. Crowded, but manageable. Excellent public transportation to and from this airport to Manhattan-at which point public transportation can be utilized to get to wedding activities/hotel. TRAIN TRAVEL Service to and from the Poughkeepsie Train Station is provided by Metro-North (to/from NYC) and Amtrak (to/from NYC and Upstate NY). The Marriott shuttle may do pick ups from the train station, but if not, a cab would not cost more than $10.00. For those of you who are combining the wedding activities with a trip to NYC you may want to consider taking the train into the city for the day from Poughkeepsie and coming back at night (the roundtrip train fare on Metro-North is about $35.00 (Amtrak is $60.00) and parking, if you need it, is only $4.00 for the whole day at the train station). The train ride is about 1hr 45 min. The first train leaves Poughkeepsie at 440am and the last one returning to Poughkeepsie leaves NYC at 130am, so experiencing a full day in NYC is not a problem when doing this.
